Vietnam has truly come of age. With now the world’s 14th largest population of around 80 million persons, Vietnam commends not only a substantial sized domestic market of consumers but also the manpower muscle to be one of the world’s dominant manufacturing countries. With a well-balanced government who has excercised steady growth in the last 15 years, Vietnam provides a business target for home grown and foreign players whether it be import, export or investment. Ahodo VN is best placed to serve the need of new entrants, providing keen insight into our main area of focus, namely the Shoes and Leather Industry.

Suffice to say, that even in these troubled economic times, the combined industries of leather, shoes, clothes and leather goods manufacturing are holding up well.

Since 2005 the footwear and leather goods industries have been in the top 5 earners in Vietnam, which effort has positioned the country as the #4 footwear exporter of such products, where footwear is the country’s #3 export business. Many of the famous western brands are represented here including Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Timberland, Rieker, Clarks, Nine West, Geox, Skechers, Merril, Vagabond, Dr Martins, etc. Not surprisingly, 90% of footwear exports are well known western brands. 2007 figures from Lefaso (Vietnam Shoes and Leather Association) noted that 553 million square feet of leather was imported in one year. Footwear production alone accounts for over 600 production lines and 1 million employees. 70% of all production is contractual with foreign partners.

Mr Nguyen Hong Triem is the founder of AHODOVN.

Mr Triem is experienced to provide representation, consultation, distribution and marketing / sales services to foreign manufacturers of machinery, materials and accessories.
Mr. Triem had been also representing a small group of businessmen in Saigon including : Im. & Exporters, Manufacturers, Investors, Suppliers, Services Providers, etc... from various lines of businesses in a common effort to integrate with businesses worldwide within the globalization trend and, the significant joining up recently of Russia, USA together with China, India, Japan and Korea into our ASEAN.
